Pre & Post Care

BROWS

PRE CARE

  • Do not work out the day of the appointment

  • Do not tan or have sunburned face.

  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or IBUprofen 24 hours before procedure.

  • No alcohol or caffeine on the day of the procedure.

  • No alcohol the night before the procedure.

  • No waxing or tinting 3 days before.

  • No microdermabrasion, microneedling, peels or laser treatments 2 weeks prior

  • No Botox or fillers 2 weeks prior

  • Please note that you will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

AFTER CARE

Absorb (Day of)

  • After the procedure, gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid.

  • Do this every 5 minutes until the oozing has stopped.

  • Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymphatic fluids which can create a heavy scab.

Wash (Days 1-3)

  • Wash daily to remove bacteria, build up of product and oils, and dead skin. (Don't worry, THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!)

  • Gently wash the area each morning and night with water and gentle soap or an unscented cleanser like Dial Soap, Cetaphil, or baby shampoo.  With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the area.

  • Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away.

  • To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants.

Moisturize and hydrate (Days 1-7)

  • Apply a tiny, rice grain amount of Aftercare 3 times a day with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area.

  • Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The product should be barely noticeable on the skin.

  • NEVER put the product on a wet or damp tattoo.

Important Reminders

  • Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep.

  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.

  • No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure.  Wear a hat when outdoors.

  • Avoid long, hot showers for the first 10 days.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.

  • Avoid face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 10 days,

  • Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area.

  • DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.

Important Instructions for Showering

  • Limit your showers to 5 minutes so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair.

  • Your face should only be getting wet only at the end of the shower.

  • Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

Wet V.S. Dry Healing

This is where things get misconstrued. Many artists tell their clients not to wash the area for the entire healing time. Client’s mistake this for a “dry healing method” in actuality, this is what the different healing methods are:

The wet healing method - applying a product to the area after washing the area

The dry healing method - not applying any product to the area after washing the area.

But, what method actually promotes best healing?

The wet method of daily washing to reduce the buildup of bacteria and dead skin coupled with the application of an aftercare product allows the skin to heal fastest and so your beautiful artwork can show thru.

How to properly wash the brows

Regardless as to whether or not a product is applied, one must wash the brows daily to prevent bacterial build-up. I recommend that my clients wash the area twice a day (morning and evening) using a a gentle soap or cleanser such as baby shampoo and apply aftercare product 3-4 times a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and before bed is a pretty good guide). First, wash the hands with soap and water then using tepid water, gently cleanse the area in a circular motion using the fingertips.  The client should also be mindful of not getting the area too soggy or wet with activities such as swimming, long hot showers, and hot yoga. Remember, the wound needs to dry up.

Please remember that washing the brows is NOT going to cause pigment loss during the healing process. You know how tattoo artists always advise clients to gently cleanse the tattooed area a couple of times a day when it is in their first days of healing? It’s the exact same thing.

Although people say that microblading counts as a semi-permanent tattoo (because it’s a super fine tattoo with tiny, paper-cut like incisions that can fade more quickly than the average tattoo), microblading IS a tattoo. Applied properly, it’s not going to wash away - the pigment has been deposited right into the epidermis, so don’t worry about washing it away.

EYELINER- currently unavailable

IMPORTANT NOTE

Your skin will be temporarily sensitized after the treatment and you should adhere to the following instructions for the next 10 days.  this will help avoid infection and allow time for the skin to recover. If you apply makeup during the next 5 days following your treatment, you do so entirely at your own risk.  Healing can take up to 10 days and it is perfectly normal for small scabbing to appear on the treated area. These should be allowed to fall off naturally over a period of a few days.

After your appointment

After the treatment; it is also normal for there to be fading of the color during the first 2 weeks and patchy sections, as the skin is still healing and the pigment will return to the surface in about 30 days. The outcome will be subtle.  This is not eyeliner tattoo, it is eyelash enhancement.  A soft shadowed enhancement to your lash line to create the illusion of fuller lashes.  This will not replace the use of eyeliner but instead give you a natural eye enhancement.  Instructions

For the 10 days following the tattoo procedure, wash the site gently and apply ointment 2 times per day

With eyes closed wash the site gently with gentle soap and warm water using your hands only. (baby shampoo is ideal)

Blot the area dry. Do not rub with a towel.

With eyes closed massage ointment in gently for 10 seconds and then gently blot off the excess goo. Be careful to not get any ointment in the eyes as it will burn.

After blotting, the area should not be oily or greasy to the touch. Allow the skin to breathe.

Sleep slightly elevated for the first few nights to reduce swelling.

Wait 6 weeks for full healing prior to deciding if you require a touch up.  Colour will fade 30-40%.  Most do not require one however if you feel you would benefit from an additional session please feel free to book a touch up appointment.

Cautions

Do not pick at the tattoo site at any time during healing.

Be careful not to get ointment in your eyes and use it sparingly.

Do not let the area dry out completely, since this can cause scabbing and cracking of skin surface.

Do not touch the treated area.

Do not use creams or make up on the treated area(s)

Avoid facial treatments such as eyelash tinting, perming or lifting.

Avoid abrasive materials such as rough towels or similar.

Avoid taking hot baths, saunas or other heat treatments.

Avoid sunbathing, using sunbeds or swimming.

Avoid hot yoga/spin class for 10 days. Moderate exercise is ok.

Avoid makeup for 5 days.  If you apply makeup you do so at your own risk.

If small scabs appear on the treated area, do not touch them. They will fall off in a few days. There are no implied or written guarantees if you don’t take care of your permanent makeup.

Should infection occur, seek immediate medical attention.

LIP BLUSH

Before your appointment - PRE CARE

Your lips cannot be dry for the appointment.  If they are dry we will need to reschedule and you will forfeit your deposit.  You may exfoliate 3 days before your appointment to remove any dry skin.  You can use a lip scrub or create your own using a little honey and brown sugar.  For the week leading up to the appointment you must moisturize your lips as much as possible (I recommend using aquaphor).   *important* cold sores are a risk of lip blush tattoo.  If you have had a cold sore in the past- we advise you to go to the doctor for an anti-viral medication prior to any lip procedure, to help avoid an outbreak.  Even if you have not had a cold sore before- I recommend all of my clients take l-lysine 2 weeks before the appointment and 2 weeks following the appointment to reduce the risk.

After your appointment - AFTERCARE

Lips will feel swollen and very dry after your treatment. Apply ointment on lips several times a day. This should be done for at least 14 days post treatment. Do not allow lips to become dry. This may interfere with healed color. During the day if lips feel dry, apply a liberal amount of ointment. Just tap on skin and do not rub in.   always use a clean q-tip, not fingers to apply ointment to the lips area. This will reduce the risk of infection.

After lips are no longer tender to the touch they may become flaky. This is normal and is expected. Please do not pick or scratch at them. This may significantly reduce the amount pigment absorption. Avoid the sun and tanning beds pre and post procedure.

Be sure to use a sun block once lips are healed.

Do not use any glycolic, hydroxy or fruit acid products on lips.

Avoid direct water pressure, pools and other bodies of water, until healed.

You can resume wearing lipstick once lips are healed.

Redness, swelling, tenderness, dryness are all common post treatment side effects and will dissipate in a short period of time.

Avoid oily, salty, acidic foods and alcohol while healing.

Lips are a muscle and may require a touch-up session to complete the process of this procedure. Lips are unpredictable.

Some clients will yield very strong healed lip color. Others will only heal with slight color uptake. This will vary on an individual basis. Clients with sun damage, scar tissue (from injury or fever blisters) and clients with implants may not have strong results. Hyperpigmentation can happen on any lip client without warning. If you have a history of fever blisters, cold sores or chicken pox, we advise you to go to the doctor or for an anti-viral medication prior to any lip procedure, to help avoid an outbreak. Follow all before and after instructions after all lip treatments. Lip retouch must be scheduled 30 to 45 days apart from initial season to help with color retention.

Lips heal in three stages: too dark - too light - just right. This takes one month to happen. Please avoid any friction to lip area.

LASH LIFT & TINT

PRE CARE

Day of treatment

Arrive to your appointment with NO eye makeup (eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara). If you arrive with eye makeup please note that we will have to use a makeup remover which may leave a residue on lashes. This can affect the success of the lift, resulting in a half lift or non-lifted lashes.

If you require a tint and haven’t scheduled one with your lift, ensure you let me know before the start of your treatment.

Do not wear contact lenses to your appointment, please bring your glasses.

If you have had any eye surgery (Lasik, cornea, upper or lower blepharoplasty, lens repair, etc.), you will need to wait at least 6 months before treatment.

If you have hyper-sensitive eyes, watery eyes, tear duct plugs or severe allergies, refractive eye surgery etc., this may not be the procedure for you.

Your eyes will remain closed for approx. 60 min. If you are claustrophobic when eyes are closed this procedure may not be for you.

Do not swim, use a sun-bed, sauna, steam room, or apply any moisture for 24 hours.

Clean contacts can be worn after the procedure. You CANNOT get Saline on lashes for 24 hours.

Do not apply makeup to lids or mascara to lashes for 24 hours.

It is recommended to not use oil-based eye makeup removers in order to prolong the life of the lift.

It is recommended to use blinc Mascara to prolong the life of the lift. blinc Mascara creates tubesaround your lashes and requires only warm water and a gentle rub to remove. Available in shop.

Lash lifts last anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks depending on hair cycle and growth. It is recommendedto rebook an appointment for a lash lift in advance.
